TV Licensing - OFFICIAL NOTICE (Again)

Another OFFICIAL NOTICE from the lovely people at TV Licensing - MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Apparently I am "in breach of the Communications Act 2003" or at least that's the intimidating wording they are hoping you will read that will scare you in to paying them £159 a year, each year to stop them contacting you both in writing and in person.

Nothing more than a protection racket.  I still don't know how this practice can be legal.

Just because I know their tricks and lies doesn't mean others don't - how my vulnerable people have been scared in to buying a TV Licence that they do not need?

How many of the 8,000 visits a day (1 per 6 seconds according to TV Licensing) result in people being tricked/scared/intimidated?

TV Licensing - Official notice: Investigation opened

Well, it's definitely official that an investigation in to me legally not requiring to have a TV License as they've plastered it all over the envelope to tell the Postman that I don't have a TV License - yet another tactic to intimidate people in to buying something that they do not need.

Once again they lecture me on the law and try to intimidate me in to paying for a TV License that I do not need.  I do no watch Live TV or use the iPlayer so I DO NOT NEED A TV LICENSE!

TV Licensing - Your IN01O0A18

Oh no!  My IN01O0A18 has arrived...

Lots of people have been receiving an IN01O0A18 letter/notification and we've all got the same code so unless it's some kind of cryptic message that you need Alun Turing to decrypt it seems like a random code they've made up to make it look scary to try and intimidate you in to buying a TV Licence that you do not need.

"We need to check you are not breaking the law" - no, no you don't.  You may like to but you do not need to as there is no legal requirement for you to do so.  I have not broken the law as I do not need a TV Licence.

Again, the only way to stop the intimidation and threats is to "buy a TV Licence" - I still cannot comprehend how a protection racket from the BBC can be legal practice!

TV Licensing - Final Stages of Investigation

Not long now then as they are now proceeding with the "final stages of our investigation"!

Apparently, an Officer has been scheduled to visit my property (again).

"We can apply to court for a search warrant to gain access to your property" - you can't get much more intimidating than this can you?

"An Officer may interview you under caution" they are salespeople NOT POLICE!

"Anything you say to the Officer may be used as evidence in court" - just say No Thanks and close the door.

"If your property needs a TV Licence, you will still need to buy one" - no shit Sherlock!  If you watch Live TV (of any kind) or use the BBC iPlayer then you need a TV License, if you do neither of these things then YOU DO NOT NEED A TV LICENCE!

"In Scotland, Scottish criminal law applies" - you don't say!  You've sent me the letter yet you aren't sure if I'm in Scotland or not??

"A reminder of the law"

"Let us know you dont need one"

This is a complete and utter LIE, there is no law that says you have to do this.  If you do not need a TV Licence then do not buy one, that's all you need to do.

TV Licensing - Will You Be In On 16th September

Will I be in on the 16th of September you ask?

Turns out it doesn't really matter as "It may be on 16th September or on another day" so another completely nonsensical letter from TV Licensing!

They are now sending the boys round despite me not having broken any laws as you do not need a TV Licence if you do not watch Live TV or use the BBC iPlayer.

THEY VISIT AROUND 8,000 ADDRESSES A DAY!!!

"Our Officers visit an address every 6 seconds.  Day.  Evening.  Even weekends.  And if no one answers, they will come back" - even debt collectors are not as nasty and as threatening as TV Licensing are.

How can the BBC allow this?

How can the government allow this?

How on Earth is it legal to send very cleverly worded letters to people threatening them with everything from a £1,000 fine to (what is in affect) sending the boys round for a chat and the only way to stop this is to give them £159 each year else they'll start all of this over again!

The new Woodland Valley housing estate is starting to take shape and the other day the new Welcome to Rothwell signs went up!

TV Licensing OFFICIAL NOTICE

Here we go again - now they're sending me an OFFICIAL NOTICE!

"You are in breach of the Communications act 2003" - no I'm not.  You DO NOT NEED A TV LICENCE IF YOU DO NOT WATCH LIVE TV OR USE THE BBC IPLAYER!

"As we still have no record of a TV Licence at this address, by law we have no option but to continue with our investigation" - this is nothing but a blatant lie as there is no legal requirement to tell TV Licensing that you do not need a TV License.

The threatening letter goes on to use such lovely words as "interviewed under caution" (they're not the Police so this is nonsense), "criminal law" (you do not need at TV Licence if you do not watch Live TV and do no use the BBC iPlayer), "penalty", "criminal conviction", "£1,000 fine"

Again the only way to stop the investigation and then sending someone to your home is to "Buy a TV Licence".

How on Earth can TV Licensing legally get away with these threatening/intimidating letters that are clearly developed to scare people in to buying something that they do not need?

Northamptonshire Country Police House, Desborough

Whilst out on a walk I came across this Hidden Treasure - the old Police house in Desborough. I wonder what other Hidden Treasures I am going to see on my walks around Desborough?...

Desborough Millennium Green

Situated down a path by the side of the St Giles church, the Desborough Millennium Green is one over over 250 such places around the country.  Indirectly funded by the National Lottery, they were created for local people, by local people and when completed were handed over to a locally run trust in perpetuity.

It's a tranquil place to visit and (before Covid19 came along) all sorts of different family fun days have been held here.

There are plenty of benches to sit down on and enjoy the peace and quiet, although I'm sad to say most are well past their finest hour and are in need of a bit of TLC.

Desborough Pocket Park

Look what I discovered today!  I had no idea how big this Pocket Park would be, it was a lot bigger than other Pocket Parks that I've been to so it was a nice surprise to find seating areas, park benches, litter bins and even a couple of large ponds - one of which appears to have 2 dipping platforms!

The only thing I didn't like was that one of the ponds was completely invisible and the only reason I knew it was there was because I could hear the gentle trickle of the stream flowing in to it and on a busy/noisy day I suspect you may not hear the rippling water so you may end up wandering in to what you think is land but is most definitely not.

Does this look like a pond to you or a continuation of the surrounding grass and would a child or pet dog accidentally run in to it?  Other than the tiny warning sign in the middle (that you may not see until it's too late) there is no barrier/fence around this deep water.

With some fantastic places to have a picnic, I will definitely be visiting this beauty spot again!
